NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2003--Renal Care Group, Inc. (NYSE:RCI - News) today announced that its clinical laboratory, RenaLab, has been awarded an accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a November 14th on-site inspection. During the inspection process, CAP evaluated more than 500 elements in the lab and found no deficiencies. Inspectors examined records and quality control of the laboratory for the preceding two years, as well as the education and qualifications of the total staff, the adequacy of the facilities, the equipment, laboratory safety, and laboratory management to determine how well the laboratory is serving patients.
Michael Burney, chief operating officer of RenaLab, noted, "the CAP is an advocate for high-quality and cost-effective medical care. We are proud to have achieved a perfect score on the inspection; achievement of a perfect score is quite rare among clinical laboratories due to the thoroughness and level of difficulty of the inspection process."
Additionally, RenaLab has been awarded special recognition as a 2002 Roche Diagnostics Center of Excellence for achieving the highest laboratory standards. RenaLab was one of nine clinical laboratories across the nation chosen for the award in recognition of its exceptional quality and pursuit of excellence.
