RENAL CARE GROUP NAMES NEW EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Nashville, Tennessee (July 18, 1996) - Renal Care Group, Inc. (Nasdaq/NM:RCGI) today announced that Gary Brukardt has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Company, effective August 5, 1996. As chief operating officer, Mr. Brukardt will assume responsibility for all clinical operations of the Company. Mr. Brukardt succeeds Joseph A. Cashia, who served as Renal Care Group's operations officer during its formation and will now assume responsibility for the Company's development activities.

Mr. Sam A. Brooks, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Renal Care Group, Inc., said, "We are delighted that someone with Gary Brukardt' 5 extensive experience in health care has joined the Renal Care Group management team. Mr. Brukardt has more than 25 years of health care industry experience, most recently serving as executive vice president of Baptist Health Care Affiliates of Nashville, Tennessee. His responsibilities included development and operation of physician practice management organizations serving nearly 400 physicians as well as management of four hospitals and 22 outpatient facilities. In addition, he was chairman and president of Health Net, Inc., a managed care company serving over 300,000 members.

Prior to 1991,Mr. Brukardt was employed with Voluntary Hospitals of America (VHA), a national alliance of 1,200 hospitals. While at VHA, he was a founder and senior officer of Partners National Health Plans, a joint venture of VHA and Aetna Insurance Company of Hartford, Connecticut, composed of over 20 HMOs nationwide. In addition, he was a founder and principal of VHA Health Ventures, a national managed care consulting group.

Renal Care Group, Inc. is a nephrology services company that was founded in June 1995 to focus on the provision of care to patients with kidney disease, including patients suffering from chronic kidney failure. The Company provides dialysis and ancillary services to approximately 3,500 patients through 49 outpatient dialysis centers in 13 states, in addition to acute dialysis services to 26 hospitals.
